Blue Leaf Sierra Madre Agave (agave durangensis)

A large Agave that can reach a diameter of nearly two meters (6 ft.) with broad, pale blue green leaves that carry massive thorns on big lobes along their margins and a prominent apical spike. It is native to Mexico in the states of Durango and Zacatecas, where it grows on rocky ground at altitudes between 1600 and 2600 m (5500 and 8500 ft.). Even though hardy to drought, it appreciated regular watering during the growing season. It will tolerate moderate freezes.
